A report puts the crown into open season for 24 hours.
The window
Each ticker reports four times a year. The window opens at 16:00 ET on the report date and runs 24 hours. Report dates are listed on the earnings page and on each ticker page. The dates currently shown are demo data.
What changes

Tenure is untouched because the season is decided by it. A crown taken during a window starts its clock at zero like any other takeover.
